QUILT JUDGING
PHILOSOPHY
I view quilt judging as an opportunity for education and growth for both judges and participants alike. I provide positive and constructive comments to quilters with the goal of supporting their ongoing development. I strive to be fair, impartial, and objective in my evaluations, and I am committed to continuously improving my judging practices. I believe that quilt judging is not just about awarding ribbons but also about celebrating quilters' artistry, craftsmanship, and creativity worldwide. I am honored to play a role in showcasing the incredible talent and passion within the quilting community.
FEES
- $350 per day (8 hours)
- $50 per hour after 8 hours in one day
- Local Travel - Current IRS Mileage Rate
- Round trip airfare, baggage fees, with transportation
- Private non-smoking accommodations
- Meals, whole food plant-based (no meat, no dairy)
Small guilds and small shows within 150 drive miles of Edgewood, California, should inquire about reduced rates.
SERVICES
Services for judging include examination of quilt and quilted items, at your location, with positive and constructive comments for each entry. Typically, I will allocate 4 minutes to the review of an entry. This will allow for 2-3 positive comments and 2-3 constructive comments. At this time, I can comfortably evaluate approximately 100 quilts in 8 hours, including comments, placement, and special awards. I am available to answer questions about category definitions, comment sheets, special awards, judging floor set-up, procedures, and any other questions you may have.
